Snowboard For Kids

A snowboard for kids can be a big decision, as not many kids choose to snowboard. I would recommend everyone NOT to buy a snowboard if it's the first time, it's a good idea to find out if your child really wants to snowboard. Therefore, it would be best to rent one the first or second time you go, so you know that what you go out and buy will be used.

If you then decide you want a snowboard, you have to decide which one you want, what size you need, when choosing the size it is important that the board is not too long, it should preferably not be longer than it goes to the chin. The longer it gets, the harder it becomes to steer.

Children's snowboards are usually in what is called a twintip model, they are easy to handle and are suitable for the entire piste and park. Twintip allows you to stand on the front and back of the board. Snowboarding should be a great experience, so it's important that you buy something that suits your junior.

Buying or renting a snowboard for kids?

Rent or buy snowboards for kids? - Everyone is recommended to rent the first 2 times you go on ski holidays, it allows you to find out if it's for you, it allows you to try different ones, you can change boots so you find out what suits you before you go out and buy one.

If you've been here for about 2 weeks and you want to buy a board, you can visit a ski shop here in Denmark or the local one in the destination where you'll be. It can easily pay off to wait until you are at the destination to get a slightly larger selection, as there are not many children's snowboards to be found here in Denmark in the ski shops.

Buying a used snowboard for kids? - If you choose to buy a used snowboard, it's important to know if it's ready for ski holidays, i.e. if it has had the edges sharpened and if it has been waxed, if it hasn't, remember there is a price to add. Make sure you don't buy a board that's too big, because then the fun goes out of it right away, as it becomes, as mentioned earlier, difficult to control.

4 things to remember

  • The height fits, completely not above the chin.
  • If you buy used, keep an eye on the edges and rust, possibly scratches in the board.
  • Make sure you get it waxed.
  • The ties are secure, your child probably won't tell you if they shake a little, so check beforehand.
