If you want to make the whole ski vacation easier for you and those you're traveling with, the first thing you need to do is find places where there is ski in - ski out, so you stay right next to the slopes and don't have to wait for a bus to get to the slopes or wait when you go home.
So you don't have to go any further than the ski cellar to get your gear, and you're probably no more than 30 steps from the slopes.

Ski in - ski out is for those who hate waiting for the bus, or for those who hate having to start the car to get to the ski lift. It's for those who hate walking in their ski boots 200 - 1000 meters to the lift to get to skiing.
For those with children on ski holidays - It's easy to come home and take an hour break, then get back on the slopes the same day. The chances of getting back out if you have to take a bus or walk there are much lower if you don't have ski in - ski out.
For those who don't want to eat on the mountain - It's a great way to save money as it's easy to go home and eat for half an hour and then get back on the slopes.
Consider it an investment in your time on the slopes and choose an area with ski in - ski out.
