Ski area in Grindelwald Wengen

The ski area consists of two main areas: Grindelwald-First and Kleine Scheidegg-Männlichen. Grindelwald-First is smaller but offers exceptional views and intermediate skiing. On the other hand, Kleine Scheidegg-Männlichen is larger and more easily accessible from both Grindelwald and Wengen. Overall, the area has 158 km of slopes, divided into different difficulty levels.

Although the area generally has good snow conditions, the valleys around Grindelwald (1,000 meters) and Wengen (1,200 meters) can be affected by low snow depths early and late in the season. However, an extensive network of snow cannons covers approximately 65% of the area and ensures good conditions throughout the season.

Transportation and connectivity between ski areas

A big plus of Grindelwald Wengen is the efficient train service that connects the villages and the mountains. You can easily take the train between the different areas, and there are regular bus services in Grindelwald that run every 15 minutes and connect the Grindelwald-First and Kleine Scheidegg ski areas.

Skiing in Mürren-Schilthorn

For those who want to explore even further, the Mürren-Schilthorn area is worth a visit. Known as the skiing locations for the James Bond films, this area is particularly suitable for the more experienced skiers. The town is particularly popular during the annual Lauberhorn World Cup, which attracts both professional skiers and spectators from around the world. If you’re looking for a place with a relaxed atmosphere, Wengen is the perfect choice.

Journey to Grindelwald Wengen

Grindelwald and Wengen are located in separate valleys in the Bernese Oberland region. The area is easily accessible from Bern, with a drive of around 1 hour and 15 minutes or a train ride of around 1 hour and 30 minutes. The good infrastructure makes it easy to get to the ski area, even for those visiting for just one day.

Once you arrive in the region, you can take gondolas, cable cars and cog railways to reach the slopes. For example, you can take the gondola from Grindelwald Grund to Männlichen, which takes around 30 minutes, or the cable car from Wengen, which only takes 16 minutes.
