Trysil is touted to be Norway’s largest ski destination, an impressive ice rink with 69 different slopes, 32 lifts, three wonderful children’s areas, and a number of challenging Snow Parks. This skiing paradise stretches over an impressive 81 km of groomed slopes to suit skiers of all levels.
Skiing in Trysil: Spanning 4 areas
Trysilfjället is divided into four connected areas, each offering unique skiing experiences.
- Turistsenter: Located on the south side of the mountain, Turistsenter offers long, wide ski runs of all difficulty levels. Children will enjoy Valle’s ski land, and snowboarders and freestyle skiers will love the many Snow Parks.
- Høyfjellssenter: Located on the north side of the mountain. Here you’ll find many green slopes, a number of red runs and a large children’s area with Valle’s ski land.
- Høgegga: Is Trysil’s steepest area with challenging skiing on black slopes. It is also a favorite area for many alpine ski stars.
- Skihytta: Located on the south side of the mountain and known for its long sunny days. Here you’ll find an express lift, children’s area, restaurants and skiing on both blue and red slopes.

Trysil is a true paradise for children and families. The ski resort has several child-friendly slopes and areas where little ones can practice in a safe environment. Cross country skiing in Trysil
Trysil is also an ideal place for cross-country skiing enthusiasts, with over 100 kilometers of well-groomed cross-country trails winding through the beautiful Norwegian landscape. Some of the most popular cross-country ski routes in Trysil include Trysil-Knuts Rundløype, Trysilfjellet Rundt and Gråberget Rundt.

How do you get to Trysil?
Trysil is located about 210 kilometers northeast of Oslo and there are several transport options available to get there. The nearest airport is Oslo Airport, from where there are good connections to Trysil by car, bus or train.
The vast majority of Danes choose to take the ferry from Frederikshavn or Copenhagen to Oslo, even driving the 2.5 hours it takes from there.
- Car: The drive from Oslo to Trysil takes approximately 2.5 hours. There are car rental companies available at the airport, so you can easily rent a car and drive to Trysil.
- Bus: Trysilekspressen is a direct bus service between Oslo Airport and Trysil. The bus runs several times a day and takes approximately 3.5 hours.
- Train: There is no direct train connection between Oslo and Trysil, but you can take the train from Oslo to Elverum and then take a local bus to Trysil. Total travel time is approximately 4 hours.

- Ski rental and lift pass: To make your ski vacation as hassle-free as possible, it is recommended to book your ski rental and lift pass in advance. Many resorts offer discounts on both ski rental and lift passes when you book online.
- Ski season: The ski season in Trysil lasts from November to April, but the best snow conditions are typically from December to March. To avoid the biggest crowds, it is recommended to visit Trysil outside of school vacation periods.
- Packing list: Remember to pack warm clothing, including a good ski jacket, ski pants, thermal underwear, gloves and a hat. It’s also a good idea to bring sunscreen and sunglasses as the sun’s rays can be strong in the mountains, even in winter.
