50 km of slopes and modern lift system
Hafjell Ski Center offers more than 50 km of slopes, divided into 31 green, 13 blue, 7 red and 9 black slopes. They cater to all levels and ensure that everyone in the family has a challenging and fun ski vacation. The ski center is equipped with a modern lift system that includes 4 chairlifts, 12 drag lifts, 3 conveyor belts and 1 gondola lift, making it easy to get around and try all the slopes.
Larger lift passes with Lillehammer Ski Resorts
Hafjell has a partnership with Skeikampen in Gausdal, Kvitfjell, Sjusjøen and Gålå as part of Lillehammer Ski Resorts. This means that the lift pass in Hafjell is valid for all five areas, making it possible to explore a total ski distance of 117 kilometers. A visit to Kvitfjell, located a little further north, is a must, as you can experience the famous World Cup downhill slope.
Discover Hafjell Park
Hafjell has three snow parks: Frontyard, Backyard and Main Park. Designed to accommodate all skill levels, these parks offer fun and challenging obstacles that guarantee progression and learning.
Frontyard is designed for children, beginners and intermediate skiers, with a green difficulty level. The park is the perfect place to learn the basic skills in the snowpark and once these are mastered, it’s time to move on to Backyard.
Backyard is the middle park and is marked in blue. The park has a blue, red and black line, so you can start with the easiest and work your way up. Frontyard and Backyard are located on the left side of Mosetertoppen on the piste map.
Main Park is for the more experienced and expert skiers and snowboarders who have already mastered blue, red and black park lines. The park is often used for competitions, so you might get lucky and get to see some impressive tricks from semi-pro and pro skiers and snowboarders.
Child-friendly facilities and activities
Hafjell Ski Center is ideal for families with children thanks to its many child-friendly facilities and activities. The ski center offers three separate children’s areas – KIDS Knerten, KIDS Mostertoppen and KIDS Gaia – designed to give children a fun and safe introduction to skiing.
KIDS Knerten: Families meet in the valley
KIDS Knerten is a family area in the valley and the main meeting point for the ski school. Here children can learn to ski in a safe environment while parents enjoy a hot drink nearby.
KIDS Mostertoppen: Skiing paradise for the whole family
KIDS Mostertoppen is a skiing paradise for the whole family at the top near the gondola stop. The area offers a long toboggan run, entertaining children’s magnet Frontyard for Kids, and a terrain park for snowboarders, Backyard.
KIDS Gaia: Free skiing and toboggan run at Gaiastova
KIDS Gaia is a family area at Gaiastova at the top of Hafjell where you don’t need a keycard for the lift – it’s free for everyone. There’s a ski cross trail and toboggan run, as well as barbecue huts with electric grills for guests to use.

Cross-country skiing: 300 km of groomed trails
For those who prefer cross-country skiing, Hafjell and the surrounding area offers over 300 km of groomed cross-country ski trails. Øyerfjeld is a popular starting point for cross-country skiing enthusiasts, with most starting from the summit at Gaiastova. From here you can explore the impressive network of trails that stretch all the way to Sjusjøen, Nordseter, Lillehammer, Ringebu and Fåvangfjeldet.
Illuminated piste from early morning and late evening
At Mosetertoppen, you’ll find a 3.7 km long light trail where the lights are on from early morning to late evening. This allows cross-country skiers to enjoy the beautiful trails even when the sun has set.

Self-drive ski holidays to Hafjell
Hafjell is located about 200 km north of Oslo, making it an easy destination to reach by car. From Copenhagen, you can drive to Hafjell in around 9 hours if you drive non-stop. With a highway all the way to the ski destination, it’s relatively easy.
If you prefer to avoid too many hours in the car, you can also choose to take the ferry for part of the journey. For example, you can take the ferry from Copenhagen or Frederikshavn to Oslo and then drive the last 200 km or so. This makes the trip more comfortable for the whole family.

What is Hafjell known for?
