Germany as a ski holiday destination
Germany has much more to offer than just border shopping, but you’ll have to go a bit further down in Germany to go skiing. In summer you can also ski in Germany, the snowdome is always open. However, Germany is ideal for a perfect ski vacation for the whole family. It’s easy to get to the ski areas by car.
In Germany there are actually a lot of different ski areas, there’s a lot of varied terrain, there’s a lot for beginners and intermediates. There are a lot of green, blue, red and black slopes. Ski destinations are not as big as in France, Italy or Austria.
A great weekend away on a ski vacation is something we can all use and Germany is a great opportunity to do just that. It’s within driving distance. So if you need a refresher course, a weekend trip to Germany would be a great option.
There are 3 areas that are good that I would recommend you visit. Harz, Berchtesgaden and Winterberg/Willingen, the 3 areas all have over 30 km of slopes.

Prices in Germany
You can easily eat for 100kr with drinks in Germany. The lift pass in the larger areas of Germany is around 40€ for 1 day, in the smaller areas it costs from 10-15€.
Harz Mountains not far from Denmark
The Harz ski area has several smaller areas underneath it. Where the best place is Wurmberg Braunlage, which is also where I would recommend people to stay close to if they go to the Harz for skiing. Wurmberg Braunlage is easily enough to fill 1 or 2 days, and otherwise it’s not far to other smaller places such as St. Andreasberg or Hohegeiss.
In Wurmberg there are around 12 km of slopes, the lift pass costs 32€ for 1 day, 2 days for 56€. It is a very family-friendly ski resort.
A weekend trip to the Harz is something you should try, just to test the German ski scene. To get a bit of air under your skis or snowboard. The area offers more than just skiing; it’s a beautiful region where you can hike through stunning forest areas.
