Paradiski – a mecca for good skiing
Les Arcs is also part of the larger Paradiski ski area, which includes nearby La Plagne. For those who want a wide range of skiing experiences without the high prices often associated with Val d’Isere and Val Thorens in Espace Killy and The Three Valleys, Les Arcs is an extremely attractive choice. It only takes four minutes to get to La Plagne with the Vanoise Express gondola.
Airports near Les Arcs
Chambery Airport is just two hours away from Les Arcs, while it takes around three and a half hours to get here from Geneva Airport. With this easy access to Les Arcs, your journey here is almost as pleasant as your stay.
Les Arcs ski area
In southeastern France, in the Savoie department of the Rhone-Alpes region, lies the ski destination, Les Arcs. With its south-eastern exposure, Les Arcs is known for many days of sunshine and Les Arcs stands for four villages: Arc 1600, Arc 1800, Arc 1950 and Arc 2000. In addition to these, the area also includes the resort of Peisey-Vallandry, which since 2003 has been connected to the Grande Plagne area via the Vanoise Express, creating one of the largest ski areas in France – Paradiski.
Paradiski: Creating the framework for a huge ski area
Paradiski includes all the village resorts in Les Arcs as well as those in La Plagne and Peisey-Vallandry. Wherever you choose to stay, you’ll have access to the full Paradiski ski area with 141 lifts, 260 pistes and 425 km of ski terrain. Of the 260 slopes, 12 are green, 135 blue, 77 red and 37 black. There are two glaciers (over 3,000 m), two snowparks and 160 km of cross-country ski trails.
Beginner skiing and snowboarding in Les Arcs
Arc 1800’s easy slopes are an excellent choice for beginner skiers and snowboarders, with some lovely wide, tree-lined slopes perfect for practicing turns and techniques.
Once you’re more confident, you can take the Transarc gondola or Arcabulle chairlift to get between Arc 1800 and Arc 2000. Arc 2000 also has plenty of blue runs, which is a great ski area to continue in once you’re more confident. There are some easy slopes from the top of the St Jacques chairlift which are great for building technique.
Easily experienced in Les Arcs
The Paradiski area, with Les Arcs as its crown jewel, is the ultimate place for intermediate skiers. Les Arcs offers a diversity of slopes that are both varied and easily accessible, so any intermediate skier or snowboarder can safely explore the entire area.
Grizzly 68
We recommend heading up to the top of the Grizzly 68 lift. From here you’ll find a good selection of red and blue runs that wind through the forests back to Vallandry and Peisey.
Enjoy a leisurely ride to Villaroger through the forests along the blue Vallée de L’Arc. Or try the red Aiguille Rouge piste from the top of the Lanchettes chairlift.
Experienced skiers in Les Arcs
You must try the 7km long black Aiguille Rouge that goes all the way down to Villaroger (Europe’s largest vertical drop at 2000m). Try the slopes of Dou de l’Homme or take the Vanoise Express lift that carries 200 people over to La Plagne, from where you can return along off-piste routes through the impressive Nancroix forest.
Snowboarding in Les Arcs
Les Arcs is known for one of the best snowparks in the Alps – located between 1600 and 1800, it’s packed with plenty of obstacles as well as a quarter-pipe, boardercross course and airbag. There are also plenty of wide pistes where snowboarders can make big turns, especially around 1800 and Vallandry.
Skiing on the glacier
With a vertical drop of 2,100m, Glacier du Varet offers slopes to challenge even the most experienced skiers. If you’ve tried all the wild slopes, head over to La Plagne to try the intermediate slopes on the Bellecôte and La Chiaupe glaciers.
The off-piste ski race in Les Arcs
When in Les Arcs, you absolutely must visit the Grand Col. It’s an off-piste playground, at over 2,500m, which means there’s always plenty of fresh powder. Another area to tick off your list is the open area above Peisey-Vallandry – it’s not as challenging, but it’s a great starting point for off-piste beginners. There’s also plenty of forest to navigate close to the Derby lift.

Les Arcs has many places to eat, but they are spread throughout the area up on the slopes and in the different levels of Les Arcs – so it’s good to have a car in the area. Otherwise, you’ll need to check out the buses.
Les Arcs 1950: Hemingway’s
Hemingway’s is one of the best places to eat in Les Arcs 1950. Known for their selection of great meats, including juicy steaks and burgers. In addition, you can also choose from pizza and local French dishes. It’s a real treat for meat lovers.
Les Arcs 1600: Chalet de L’Arcelle
Chalet de L’Arcelle in Les Arcs 1600 allows you to feel really comfortable in a cozy old chalet. With its quirky stone interior and great menu of meat, fish and cheese fondue and raclette. Remember to save room for the Paris-Brest dessert.

Known for reasonable prices and an electric atmosphere, it’s no surprise that hundreds of après-kitos flock here to dance on the tables.
Bar King Mad
Bar King Mad, also known as BKM, is the place to be when you’re reaching the end of the ski day. Later in the evening, head from BKM to the Red Hot Saloon. BKM has a large terrace, which is an excellent place to relax after a great day of skiing
Village Igloo Bar
Village Igloo Bar, is a bar carved out of ice where you enter an ice cave. It’s definitely worth a visit just to refresh your Instagram. Cocktails cost a little more here, but it’s the experience you’re buying.
Latino Loco
Latino Loco in Arc 2000 is the place for those who just don’t want to go to bed and be ready for the next day, this is where the party continues late into the night. There are DJs playing all the big hits.
