Guide – Burton Step On

Saalbach 970x250

Revolutionen for snowboardere skete i 2017-2018 sæsonen, hvor Burton lancerede deres ”Step On” produkt linje. Step On fra Burton var en revolution på grund af det gjorde livet meget nemmere for snowboardere at komme i bindingerne og komme ud af dem igen.

Step in bindings have been used for many years, however, it has not been as good a product as what Burton has come up with.

Everyone who has snowboarded knows that you have to sit down every time you have to close your bindings, and those of you on ski holidays where most people are skiing have to stand and wait for your bindings to be closed. In addition to people having to stand and wait, all of us snowboarders have a cold butt and sore buttocks because of having to sit on the snow.

Buying a pair of Burton Step On bindings and boots can be a thing of the past. It's important to mention that it's not enough to buy the bindings, you also need to buy a pair of Burton Step On boots before you can use the new system.

How does burton step on work?

The simple way it works is that when you put the boot on, you insert the heel so that it clicks in, then press the front of the foot down so that it clicks in at the tip of the binding.

The boot is then locked to the binding in the heel and on the front foot. When you need to get out of the binding, there is a small trigger in the form of a small "rod" that you just press down and then twist out of the binding.

Now you might be thinking, how the heck can they hold the snowboard while I take the chairlift up, I asked myself before I tried it the first time, and let me put it this way, I was nervous the first 10 trips up the lift that I would fall out of the binding. But you don't do that. You just have to get used to the fact that nothing goes over your foot and that you don't have to sit down every time you hit the top of the lift.

How does it feel to step on?

Let's start by saying, I'm not going to jump back to the most well-known and "normal" snowboard bindings again.

Step On bindings are a lot lighter than "normal" bindings, they're super comfortable and offer great flexibility. When you get out where there is new snow or in the off-piste and you have to put on the Step On binding, it can be a bit difficult, but that's the same with other bindings.

Is Burton Step on worth the money?

If you ask me, as mentioned above, I'm not going to jump back to the old system that the vast majority of snowboarders use today.

I can understand why people think it's quite an investment if you have to buy new snowboard boots and new bindings to use this system.

But when you buy it, you also get a completely different feeling, for example if you're with a group of people skiing and there's a snowboarder in the group who doesn't have step on. Then it's not you that people will be waiting for, many people can get long gray hairs from standing and waiting for others. So if you want to avoid that, you should invest in Burton Step On.
