Ski travel agencies
We've looked at all Danish ski travel agencies and gathered information on where they sell ski tours to. Some specialize in family ski holidays, bus ski holidays, self-drive ski holidays and ski trips by plane. When checking out ski vacation deals, it can be good to match offers against each other. Ski holiday deals allow you to save up to 30%, less choice and the chance of your favorite ski holiday destination not being available.
If you are looking for a cheap ski holiday with ski in/ski out, you should book your ski vacation outside the high season. Skiing peak season during Christmas and New Year as well as week 7 and week 8, ski holidays at Easter can also be a little expensive.
We don't sell ski trips ourselves, but we provide information about everything to do with skiing.
Popular ski brands
There are many ski brands that are not available in Danish ski shops. We've written about more than 200 different ski/accessory brands that cater to ski lovers, with some of them making just a few products and others making full body ski gear as well as skis and snowboards.
We love good ski gear, whether it's a good pair of skis, a boot warmer you didn't know you needed, a set of step-on snowboard boots, stump pads, ski socks with heat, a ski helmet you can hear music in, a ski suit or a nice pair of Oakley ski goggles.
Saalbach, arguably Europe's most modern lift system
Imagine standing there in the middle of the Alps, in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. 270 kilometers of slopes, 70 lifts, and the waiting time? Almost non-existent. Even when it's crowded in high season, you just glide into a gondola and up to the top. No queues, no stress.
Take the new Lärchfilzkogel cable car in Fieberbrunn - red, sleek, 10 seats. It opened in summer 2024, replacing an old one from 1989. Now it takes minutes to get up, not fifteen minutes. Panoramic windows, comfortable seats and you hardly notice you're moving. It's like taking a little luxury ride up the mountain.
In Hinterglemm, they've thrown in the 12-seater Express lift. Two minutes from the practice slope to the main slope, 2,400 people per hour. It's not just fast - it's smart. And you see the same everywhere: red gondolas, modern chairlifts, LED lights for evening runs, all in the same design. Even beginners will have an easy time with T-bar lifts that start softly.
It's all connected. With the ALPIN CARD you ski 408 kilometers of slopes, including Zell am See and Kitzsteinhorn. The snow cannons keep the snow perfect all season long and 60 cabins are ready with hot soup and coffee.

Choose the right ski equipment
Choosing the right ski equipment is crucial for a great experience on the slopes. For skis, it's all about matching your level and preferred terrain. Beginners should choose shorter, softer skis for easier maneuvering, while experienced skiers can go for longer, stiffer skis for better stability at high speeds. Consider the type of terrain: all-mountain skis are versatile, while powder skis are ideal for deep snow. Ski boots are critical - a good fit is essential for comfort and control. Get them professionally fitted. Choose flex based on your level; softer for beginners, harder for experienced. Don't forget safety equipment: a ski helmet is a must and a back shield is recommended for aggressive skiing. For off-piste adventures, avalanche backpack and transmitter are essential. Invest time in researching and trying different options to find the equipment that suits you best.
Find the perfect ski hotel
Choosing the right ski hotel can take your ski vacation to new heights. Location is often the most important factor: ski-in/ski-out hotels offer maximum convenience, while hotels in town offer more city life and often lower prices. Consider the facilities: a sauna, hot tub or indoor pool can be worth their weight in gold after a day on the slopes. Many hotels offer half board, which can be a great way to save money on expensive restaurant meals. For families, kids clubs, family rooms and child-friendly meals are important considerations. If après-ski is a priority, choose a hotel close to the popular bars. Don't forget practical details like secure storage for ski equipment and transportation to the lifts if the hotel is not directly on the slopes. The perfect ski hotel will depend on your specific needs and preferences, so consider carefully what's most important to you.

Ski schools and instruction
Professional instruction can significantly improve your skiing experience, whatever your level. For beginners, group lessons are an economical way to learn the basic skills while also meeting other beginners. Private lessons offer more personalized attention and faster progress, ideal if you have specific goals. Families should consider specialized children's ski schools that combine learning with fun. For intermediate and advanced skiers, there are courses focused on technique improvement, off-piste skiing or race training. Specialized instruction like telemark or freestyle can open up new dimensions in your skiing experience. Heliskiing courses offer the ultimate challenge for the adventurous. Whatever your choice, professional instruction will not only improve your skills, but also increase your safety and enjoyment on the slopes.

Plan your perfect ski day
A successful ski day starts with good planning. Hit the slopes early to enjoy freshly groomed slopes and avoid queues. Check the weather forecast and plan your route accordingly - seek shelter in wooded areas on windy days. Vary your experience by exploring different parts of the ski area. Remember to take regular breaks to keep your energy levels up and enjoy your surroundings. Avoid the temptation to take "the last run" - many accidents happen when skiers are tired at the end of the day. Pack a light lunch or snacks to save money and time. Stay hydrated and protected from the sun with sunscreen and lip balm. Consider using a ski app to track your runs and find your way. Finish the day early so you can enjoy après-ski or relax before dinner. Good planning will ensure you get the most out of every day on the slopes.
Aprés-ski and other activities
Ski holidays are about more than just skiing. Aprés-ski is an important part of the culture in many resorts, where you can enjoy live music, hot drinks or a beer while reminiscing about the day's exploits. Explore local specialties like fondue or raclette at cozy mountain restaurants. For the energetic, many resorts offer a lively nightlife. In addition to skiing, try other winter activities like cross-country skiing for a great workout, or take a thrilling snowmobile ride through snow-covered landscapes. Dog sledding and ice skating are fun alternatives. For relaxation, treat yourself to spa treatments or a soak in an outdoor hot tub with mountain views. Many resorts also offer indoor activities like swimming pools, climbing walls or bowling alleys. With so many options, you can create a versatile and memorable winter vacation, both on and off the slopes.

Safety on the slopes
Safety is essential for a great skiing experience. Know and follow the FIS rules of behavior on the slopes, which include controlling your speed, respecting other skiers and choosing routes that match your ability. Always wear a helmet and consider protective gear like a back shield. Stay updated on weather and snow conditions and be aware of potential hazards like icy areas or poor visibility. If you go off-piste, always bring a guide and wear avalanche gear. Learn to recognize signs of fatigue and listen to your body - many accidents happen when skiers are exhausted. Drink plenty of water and wear sun protection, even on cloudy days. Be careful with alcohol, especially at lunchtime, as it can affect your judgment and balance. By prioritizing safety, you can enjoy a fun and worry-free ski holiday.
